Founders

Aid Tanzania was founded by Wantay and Tina Irmakesen in December 2007 and is a registered public charity or 501 (c)(3) organization in the US. Wantay is Maasai from the Ngorongoro district of Tanzania. Tina and Wantay met in January 2006 in Tanzania and were married in September 2007. In Oct. 2010, the two moved to Karatu with their 6 month old daughter. The three spent 9 years in Tanzania, establishing an NGO in Tanzania, Kiretono Resource Organization. Kiretono Resource Organization received funding from Aid Tanzania to establish a women's enterprise program and an after school tutoring program for girls among other activities benefiting pastoralists from Ngorongoro.
